Abstract

Research summary:

The current research was conducted in Iraq, Babil Governorate, and aimed to:

1. Identify the effectiveness of an electronic program based on virtual education in the achievement of third-year students in the subject of teaching methods of art education.

2. Identify the effectiveness of an electronic program based on virtual education in the positive thinking of third-year students in the subject of teaching methods of art education.

To achieve the two objectives of the research, the researcher set the following two null hypotheses:

1.            There is no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average achievement of third-grade students who study the subject of teaching methods of art education using an electronic program based on virtual education and who represent the experimental group, and the average achievement of third-grade students who study the subject of teaching methods of art education in the traditional way and who represent the control group.

2.            .There is no statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average scores of the post-positive thinking test for third-grade students who study the art education teaching methods course using an electronic program based on virtual education and who represent the experimental group, and the average scores of the post-positive thinking test for third-grade students who study the art education teaching methods course using the traditional method and who represent the control group.

To achieve the research objectives, the researcher randomly selected the Department of Art Education at the College of Fine Arts, University of Babylon, and in the same way, he chose Section (A) to represent the experimental group, which had (30) male and female students from the third grade who study the subject of teaching methods of art education using an electronic program based on virtual education, and Section (B) to represent the control group, which had (30) female students from the third grade who study the subject of teaching methods of art education in the traditional way, and thus the research sample as a whole reached (60) students from the third grade students in that school.

The researcher conducted equivalence between the students of the two research groups in the following variables:

1. Chronological age calculated in months.

2. Intelligence test scores.

3. Pre-positive thinking test scores.

After determining the subject matter that will be taught using an electronic program based on virtual education (during the experiment period), which is represented by the topics of the Art Education Teaching Methods course for the third grade, the researcher formulated several behavioral objectives and prepared teaching plans for the topics of Art Education Teaching Methods that will be taught in the electronic program based on virtual education. The researcher taught the two research groups himself during the experiment period, which lasted (15) weeks. After the experiment ended, the researcher applied the final achievement test and the post-positive thinking test to the students of the two research groups.

The researcher used appropriate statistical methods to extract his results. He concluded that the students of the experimental group who studied the art education teaching methods course using an electronic program based on virtual education outperformed the students of the control group who studied the art education teaching methods course using the traditional method in achievement and positive thinking. In light of the results reached by the researcher, he recommended a set of recommendations, including:

1.  Use an electronic program based on current virtual education or similar to it in teaching the art education teaching methods course to raise the intellectual and scientific level of students alike.

2.   Organize a training course for teachers of the art education teaching methods course on an electronic program based on virtual education
