The Concept of Cognitive Style and its Relationship to the Outcomes of Design Department Students in The Color Applications

Abstract

 Research Summary:

 The current research aims to study the topic (the concept of cognitive style and its relationship to the productions of design department students in the subject of color applications). The research included four chapters, the first of which dealt with: the research problem (what is the relationship of cognitive style to the productions of design department students in the subject of color applications?). The importance of the research, in addition to the two objectives of the research: First: revealing the nature of the cognitive style (independence-dependence) on the field by sorting independent students from dependent students. Second: finding the relationship between the style (independence-dependence) on the field and the productions of second-year design department students in the subject of (color applications). The limits of the research, and defining the terms. The second chapter was divided into two sections: the first: cognitive style between concept and application, and the second: color applications (Classification and applications). The third chapter included the research sample, which included the outputs of students (second stage) in the Design Department / College of Fine Arts / University of Babylon / for the academic year (2024-2025). The total sample amounted to (62) male and female students, with (27) independent students and (35) dependent students. The research required two tools: a tool to measure the cognitive style (independence - dependence) on the field, and a tool to analyze the students' output. The fourth chapter included a set of results, conclusions, and recommendations. The most prominent results are:

1. Students in the second stage of the Design Department enjoy a cognitive style that is dependent on the field.

 2. The research results showed a relationship between the cognitive style of independence and dependence on the field and the outputs of students in the second stage of the Design Department in the subject of color applications.
