Culture and its reflection in contemporary Iraqi ceramics

Research Summary
Cultural reflection has emerged as a fundamental factor in shaping artistic practices and visual identity. Ceramics is one of the most prominent arts influenced by this reflection, reflecting a unique blend of established traditions and modern influences, giving it a distinct aesthetic and cultural dimension. This reflects the interplay between ancient cultural heritage. Ceramics has become a means of expressing changes in public taste, lifestyles, and identity symbols, even narrating folk tales and local legends using innovative visual styles. This approach aims to explore the impact of cultural reflection on art by analyzing artistic styles, materials used, and expressive symbols, while examining the experiences of local artists in employing heritage within a contemporary vision. It also seeks to demonstrate how this art has contributed to strengthening cultural identity and documenting societal transformations through visual media that express time and place.
The current research includes four chapters. The first chapter addresses the research problem, its importance, the nature of its objectives, its limitations, and the definition of its terminology. The current research, summarized, aims to identify how culture is reflected in the works of contemporary Iraqi potters.
The second chapter represents the theoretical framework of the research and was divided into two sections. The first section addressed cultural reflection, its essence and connotations.
The second section addressed the influence of culture on global art.
The third section addressed contemporary Iraqi pottery, arriving at the indicators resulting from the theoretical framework.
The third chapter included the research procedures, including the research community, which numbered (25) artworks. A sample was intentionally selected, consisting of (3) models. The research tool and sample analysis were also included, using a descriptive analytical approach.
The fourth chapter included the research results, discussion, conclusions, recommendations, and proposals. The research concluded with a list of sources and references.
