Abstract

Research Summary

This research, entitled "The Dialectic of Women and the Bull in the Works of Sculptor Mahmoud Ajami," contains four chapters. The first chapter addresses the general framework of the research, embodying the research problem by answering the following question: What are the extents of the realization of the dialectic of women and the bull in the works of sculptor Mahmoud Ajami? It also addresses the importance and need for the research. Its goal is to identify "the dialectic of women and the bull and the extent of its realization in the works of sculptor Mahmoud Ajami." The research scope is limited to studying the sculptural works of sculptor Mahmoud Ajami. The first chapter concludes with defining and identifying terms. The second chapter: It included the theoretical framework of the research, as it contained three topics. The first topic dealt with: the dialectic of form and meaning, and the second topic was entitled: the structural contexts of the bull and the woman in ancient Iraqi sculpture. As for the third topic, it included the title: the experience of the sculptor Mahmoud Ajami, arriving at the indicators of the theoretical framework. As for the third chapter: It included the research procedures in which the researcher defined the research community, which included (12) models of sculptural work, and chose (3) models for analysis intentionally in addition to the research tool. The descriptive research approach was adopted in analyzing the content of the research sample works. Chapter Four contains the results, including:

1. Mesopotamian art was influenced by the environment, as the artistic environment was a reflection of the social and historical reality, with the artist drawing his concepts from his surroundings.

2. The sculptor reinterpreted mythological forms in a contemporary way, combining them with modern techniques.

3. The sculptor continues his sculptural experiments, maintaining a sensitive dialectic to present his themes.

The research also includes the conclusions reached by the researcher through analyzing the research sample, focusing on the indicators of the theoretical framework, recommendations and proposals, a list of sources, and a summary in English.
