Abstract

Research Summary

Artificial intelligence refers to intelligent systems that rely on the automated processing of kinetic, auditory, or visual data, contributing to shaping the performative interaction between the theatrical actor's body and smart media. This influences the structure and aesthetic direction of the theatrical actor's performance, raising profound ontological questions about the nature of the actor's performance, the limits of their presence and effectiveness, and the aesthetics of the interaction between the artistic body and smart media                                                          The first chapter addresses the research problem, which is defined as the mechanisms by which artificial intelligence (AI) operates in constructing and reorganizing the interactive relationship between the body and smart media within the performance of contemporary global theatrical actors, and the impact of this on the aesthetic and expressive structure of the performance. The research highlights the importance of AI, demonstrating its role in the interaction between the performer's body and smart media in virtual space, and showing how AI has become an active element in theatrical performance. Furthermore, the research contributes to deepening the theoretical and practical understanding of how interaction affects the theatrical actor's performance, and to redefining the concepts of presence, performative effectiveness, and the represented self in light of AI developments. The research aims to identify AI and its role in constructing the interaction between the body and smart media in the performance of contemporary global theatrical actors. The research is limited in time (2018–2026), geographically (encompassing a group of countries worldwide), and thematically (artificial intelligence and its role in constructing the interaction between the body and smart media in the performance of contemporary global theatrical actors

In addition to defining the terms used in the research title, the second chapter (theoretical framework) consisted of two sections. The first section was titled: Artificial Intelligence: Origins, Concept, and Function. The second section was titled: Artificial Intelligence in Theatrical Art and its Role in Producing Aesthetic Interaction between Performing Arts and Smart Media. The third section was titled: Artificial Intelligence and its Effectiveness in Shaping Intelligent Algorithmic Performance. After searching and investigating, the researcher found no previous studies on artificial intelligence and building interaction between the body and smart media in the performance of contemporary international theatrical actors. The third chapter was dedicated to the research procedures. The research population was defined as (10) theatrical performances, from which the researcher extracted the research sample, which included three theatrical performances: (Valley of Strangeness) in 2006, directed by Stefan Herbeck; (Artificial Intelligence: When a Robot Writes a Play) in 2021, directed by Daniel Herbeck; and (The Dream of Artificial Intelligence) in 2026, directed by Mula.  The researcher used a descriptive approach in analyzing the data, relying on the theoretical framework's indicators as a tool for analyzing the research sample. Chapter Four included the results, conclusions, and recommendations, and the research concluded with a list of sources and references
