Artistic Strategies to Confront Extremism in Contemporary Iraqi Fine Art

Abstract

The research entitled ( Artistic Strategies to Confront Extremism in Contemporary Iraqi Fine Art ) aimed to understand the nature of the relationship between art and extremism in Iraq . It is a complex and intertwined relationship , affected by the cultural, Social and political history of the country. Artists used art to expose injustice and violence, raise awareness of the dangers of extremism, promote the values of tolerance and enhance dialogue and understanding . The research come in four chapters: The first chapter contained: The methodological framework of the research, and the second chapter contained : The theoretical framework of the research, which included two topics: The first topic: The concept of extremism, while the second topic : The role of art in confronting extremism in Iraq, While the third chapter  was devoted to the research procedures, and finally the fourth chapter included the results and conclusions, and the most important of these results are : 1- The visual artist sought to confront extremism by strengthening the Iraqi identity, Which contributes to raising societal awareness . 2 – The visual artist used various materials, symbols,and contemporary ideas in order to liberate himself from extremist ideas that work to destroy youth and society, by promoting dialogue and understanding .
