Abstract

Decoration is one of the most important types of arts. It has a widespread presence in civilizations and artistic achievements. It is related to the religious belief of Muslims and the ideals that made art and decoration an important means of expressing aesthetic values. Therefore, even some European and American artists were influenced by Islamic oriental art and decoration in particular. For example, the modernist painter (Henri Matisse), the decoration sometimes requires not using perspective, shadows, lights and colors in their image other than the truth that does not represent the truth in nature, but that was prevalent in European art. And based on the nature of the study of the subject, the research was divided into four chapters, the first chapter of which included the research problem, which ended with the following question (what is the structure of the decorative design of animal shapes on the ceramic surface in the works of potters Sarrah Farrley), its importance and need for it, and the aim of the research (know the structure of decorative design of animal figures on the ceramic surface in the works of potters Sarrah Farrley). As for the second chapter, it consisted of two sections, the first section included (decorative design elements and foundations), while the second section included (structural design in European ceramics), and the chapter ended with indicators of the theoretical framework and previous studies. The third chapter included the research procedures, as it included the framework of the research community, which amounted to (15) models, from which a sample was extracted in an intentional way, as it amounted to (3) sample models that covered the limits of the research by adopting the descriptive method for analyzing the research sample. The fourth chapter included the results, discussion, research conclusions, recommendations and proposals, which expressed ideas and contents based on the decorative design applications of animal shapes on the ceramic surface in the works of potters Sarrah Farrley.
