In the rapidly developing contemporary decades, Fine arts has witnessed a remarkable change that goes hand in hand with globalization, and as in the era of modernity, contemporary times have their global cultural indicators, in which old traditional styles merge with modern styles and techniques, leading to the emergence of contemporary artistic forms and pieces that are distinct from traditional forms, and both painting and ceramic, as visual arts, have undergone significant development, and in order to study and understand this development, highlighting the study of morphology (the science of form) and structural patterns is essential in analyzing and understanding these contemporary arts. Despite the major developments and transformations witnessed in both painting and ceramic, there is a lack of studies that conduct a comparative study of the structural and morphological patterns between these two arts. Bridging this gap is one of the objectives of this research through a comprehensive comparison and in-depth analysis between the two arts, and analyzing the patterns, differences, and morphological similarities between painting and contemporary ceramic to gain a deeper understanding of their overlaps and disparities. The research consists of several chapters. The first chapter reviews the statement of the research problem and its main importance with its goal and limits, in addition to defining and specifying the most common terms. The gap of this research addresses the statement of morphology and structural systems for both contemporary painting and ceramic, by answering the following question: What are the most important differences and similarities in the morphological structure between contemporary painting and ceramic? As for the importance of the research, it lies in highlighting the similarities and differences between the morphological systems and how these two contemporary arts are constructed, which provides benefit to students of the Faculty of Arts, whether the department of painting or ceramic, by exploring new horizons in terms of the differences and similarities of morphology between these two fields.

This importance frames the research goal, which is (to identify the morphological structural systems in both contemporary painting and ceramic). The second chapter deals with the research methodology used and its theoretical framework through only two topics, where the first topic is the concept of morphology and structural systems intellectually, while the second topic is concerned with reading contemporary visual art and its relationship to morphology. The research sample was determined to include two works each of painting and ceramic, focusing on works that explore themes of (history, identity, and memories). The descriptive analytical method was used, relying on theoretical framework indicators as the research tool. The fourth chapter presents the research results, discussions, key conclusions, recommendations and proposals.
