Research summary

This research dealt with the connotations of metaphor in the contemporary Iraqi theatrical text. Metaphor had an important role in the theatrical text by giving this text suggestive connotations represented by a new type of dealing with language that differs from traditional dealing. From here, the researcher conducted a research study in which metaphor was explained in the contemporary Iraqi theatrical text through four chapters, the first chapter the methodological framework, which included a problem which was defined by the following question: (What are the connotations that the Iraqi playwright wanted from metaphor in his theatrical text?) While the researcher determined the importance of the research and the need for it as follows: By highlighting the concept of metaphor as it is of importance to the theatrical text, metaphor is identified as an important rhetorical method, in addition to the fact that it benefits scholars and researchers in the field of literature and criticism in writing theatrical text. The current research aims to identify the connotations of metaphor in the contemporary Iraqi theatrical text. As for the limits of the research, it was limited to the period from (2011-2020), and then the first chapter was concluded by defining the terms and the procedural definition of metaphor and its meaning. The second chapter (the theoretical framework for the research) included topics studied in the first section: the metaphor between concept and procedure. As for the second section: Metaphor in the Iraqi Arab international text, the chapter concluded with indicators, the theoretical framework and previous studies. As for the third chapter (research procedures), it included the research community, which amounted to a number of theatrical texts (9), and the research sample that the researcher chose in an intentional way, as it included (Who is on the horizon?) As for the research tool, the researcher relied on the indicators of the theoretical framework, while the research methodology adopted by the researcher is a descriptive and analytical approach because it is close to the research mechanism. The research concluded with the fourth chapter, which included the results, conclusions and recommendations, then a list of sources and references.
