Features of Conflict in Graffiti Art Productions (Jean-Michel Basquiat as a Model)

ABSTRACT

Graffiti art represents the other side of the miserable social situation that society suffers from as a result of repression, conflict, deprivation, poverty, displacement, and racism. It is an expressive protest that manifests itself in rejection, conflict, and opposition to all social systems, rules, and norms. Some describe graffiti as an incitement art against authority, calling it the art of the deprived and poor classes who have adopted this art as a means of expressing their suffering. Aggressive behavior has received significant attention in social, educational, and judicial circles due to its impact on the structure and development of society. The features of hostility in graffiti art have been strikingly evident, especially in the graphic arts experiences of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Thus, the current study aims to: Identify the features of conflict in the productions of graffiti art (Jean-Michel Basquiat as a model). The second chapter included the theoretical framework with two sections. The first explored the psychological dimensions of conflict—concepts and applications. The second section explored approaches to the manifestations of conflict in shaping the postmodern era. The third chapter included the research procedures. After defining the general framework of the original community, five models were selected to represent the research sample. A content analysis tool was also developed, after achieving both apparent validity and reliability. This tool was then prepared for application in its final form to analyze the research sample models.
