Abstract

Abstract:

  The research titled “Mechanisms of expressive display in Mahmoud Shabr's drawings” focuses on the study of expressive methods in the artist Mahmoud Shubber’s works, through his reliance on various artistic schools. The research is organized into four chapters, beginning with Chapter One. It includes the research question: What are the systems of expression in Mahmoud Shubber’s paintings? The aim of the study is to identify these expressive systems. The objective boundaries of the research are limited to the artist’s works executed using acrylic colors, within the timeframe of 2011 to 2022, and the geographical context being Iraq. also includes the definition of key research terms. Chapter Two (Theoretical Framework) consists of two main sections:

• The first section addresses Systems of Expression in Contemporary Art.

 • The second section explores The Artistic Experience of Mahmoud Shubber.

The chapter concludes with the indicators derived from the theoretical framework-

Chapter Three covers the research procedures, including the research population, the selected sample consisting of three models, the research tool, and the analysis of the sampl.

Chapter Four presents the research findings, the most important of which are:

  1.One of the most prominent expressive methods in Mahmoud Shubber’s artworks is the skillful integration of authenticity and modernity.

2.Mahmoud Shubber utilized free space in distributing forms across the pictorial surface, where the elements appear to completely fill the canvas, enhancing a sense of visual tension and density.

The conclusions include:

 1.The interaction between heritage and modernity forms a renewed visual perspective. His use of Islamic art elements, combined with modern techniques, enables a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural heritage.
