Abstract

Abstract

The current research includes four chapters. The first chapter includes the methodological framework and the research problem, which focused on answering the following question: (What is performativity and its applications in the theatrical performance, the play Red Carpet as a model?) Then, the importance of the research and the need for it to shed light on the subject of performativity as it is one of the modern terms that must be emphasized, and to highlight the artistic and stylistic mechanisms that distinguish this performance form and are evident in many international directors. The aim of the research is to identify performativity and its applications in the theatrical performance, the play Red Carpet as a model. The second chapter, the theoretical framework, included two topics: the first, the concept and origin of performance, and the second, the performance applications in global theatrical performance. The chapter concluded with indicators resulting from the theoretical framework. The third chapter, the research procedures, included the intentional selection of the sample, which is the Red Carpet performance directed by Jabbar Joudi, shown in 2013. The fourth chapter included the results and conclusions, including: 1- Following composition and montage in forming scenes based on the visual narration of events. 2- These performances carried their daily concerns represented by the concepts of war, death and terrorism, which re-formulated the tragedy in a style that evokes local events at the present time.
