Research Abstract
The concept of rupture and transformation represents a critical analytical framework for identifying the most significant changes that have taken place within Western societies. Within the aesthetic domain, this concept has come to signify moments of substitution, transformation, and conceptual shift, accompanied by a movement toward new artistic propositions that produced visual transformations and problematized artistic production. In this context, the present study examines the phenomenon of rupture and transformation in the art of drawing, which constitutes the central axis of the research. The study is structured into four chapters. The first chapter defines the research problem through the following question: (What are the determinants through which rupture is achieved, and in what ways are manifestations of transformation realized in modern drawing?)
The significance of the research lies in its ability to provide analytical insights into the mechanisms through which rupture occurs and the processes of transformation that emerge in its aftermath. Furthermore, the study highlights the possibility of anticipating modes of transformation and displacement that follow states of rupture.
The aim of the research is to identify the determinants that lead to rupture in modern drawing and to examine the resultant processes of emergence and aesthetic transformation. The objective, spatial, and temporal boundaries of the study have been clearly defined. The corpus includes artistic works and pictorial representations that are temporally associated with periods of rupture and transformation in the modern era. In addition, the study provides precise definitions of the key terms employed.
The second chapter consists of three sections. The first section addresses rupture and transformation in terms of meaning and conceptual framework. The second section examines the aesthetic representation of rupture and transformation in drawing. The third section discusses the defining characteristics of drawing in the modern period. The third chapter is devoted to research procedures and methodology. The fourth chapter presents the results, conclusions, recommendations, and proposals reached by the researcher.
1. Most artistic movements were established following a state of discontinuity, encompassing within their folds a range of intellectual, economic, and political drivers among other factors , that necessitated change and transformation within the societal structure.
2. The stage of discontinuity is considered a preparatory phase for most transformations occurring in societies, representing a definitive boundary between the pre-transformation and post-transformation stages.
3. Artistic transformations adopted divergent strategies that differed from the pre-discontinuity stage, emerging as a new phase in art in terms of content, form, and technique.
