Abstract

Research Summary:

Given the lack of buildings in our beloved country that include interior halls whose design treatments include a design synergy between reality and virtuality for its components, using a modern technical method, and to contribute to providing research that helps in reducing part of the knowledge gap in this aspect, this research titled “Synergy between reality and virtuality in the design of the digital interior environment” came and the research problem was formulated: What are the mechanisms for achieving synergy between reality and virtuality that work to improve digital interior environments? The research also aims to "reveal how and where virtual reality requirements are integrated with physical elements in digital interior environments." The first section included the concept of reality in interior design, while the second section addressed virtualization techniques in digital interior environments. The third section addressed the mechanisms of synergy between reality and virtuality in the digital environment, followed by indicators and research procedures. The research sample consisted of three digital models in restaurant buildings, using modern technologies of our current era and at the level of projecting virtual three-dimensional shapes into interior space with high accuracy. The research reached a set of conclusions, including:

1. Viewer awareness depends on the nature of virtual displays in digital interior environments, as they stimulate the viewer to increase their cultural awareness for learning and enjoyment. However, achieving this is based on synergy between reality and virtuality in these environments, based on the level of immersion.

2. Achieving immersion is linked to the type of digital technologies used, the extent to which virtual display devices provide three-dimensional or higher embodiment, the type of display perception tools, and the nature of the virtual display content.
