Abstract:

This research is concerned with studying (scenes of challenge in contemporary Iraqi painting), and it consists of four chapters. The first chapter includes a statement of the research problem, which is summarized by the question about scenes of challenge in contemporary Iraqi painting. The importance of the research The research aims to reveal the scenes of challenge in contemporary Iraqi painting and the limits of the research, which include the objective limits: which are the completed works that talk about challenge and surrender in contemporary Iraqi painting and the temporal limits: (1987-2022) and the spatial limits in Iraq. The second chapter / the theoretical framework of the research included two sections: the first section / the concept of challenge and the second section (manifestations of challenge in contemporary Iraqi painting). The third chapter (procedures) dealt with the research community, the research sample of (3) models, the research tool, methodology and analysis of samples. The fourth chapter included the results, including: 1- The embodiment of sudden events of images of challenge by Iraqi artists has great value in rejecting the injustice and oppression that Iraq was exposed to. 2- The Iraqi artist took the role of the historian who recorded the most prominent events that the country went through through contemporary Iraqi painting. The researcher also reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were: 1- The reconciliation between the form of the work and its content is achieved through the diversity of technical methods to highlight images of challenge, whether the artistic challenge Apparent or implicit, through imitation of reality. 2- The artist used self-representation to express the challenge, adhering to objective rules despite the diversity of artistic styles.
