The use of visual effects and their role in the aesthetics of montage, the movie (AVATAR) as a model

Abstract

Research Summary

       Film production has witnessed significant developments due to the introduction of technology into all stages of film production, including the use of visual effects within film scenes, particularly effects created using computer software. Their importance lies in deepening the intellectual connotations of the image, in addition to their aesthetic and dramatic values. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify how visual effects are employed and their role in the aesthetics of montage. The researcher selected the film "Avatar" as a deliberate sample. He adopted a descriptive and analytical approach and prepared an observation form as a research tool. This form was designed in light of the theoretical framework indicators and the sources and literature used in the theoretical framework. After the experts approved the research tool, the method of using visual effects in scenes from "Avatar" was analyzed, and several results were reached, the most important of which are the following:

1.    Modern cinema relies on visual effects, especially those that can be added during the editing stage.

2.    Visual effects contribute to controlling the rhythm of the shots and the visual and intellectual enjoyment they achieve.

3.    The use of visual effects is linked to the ideological aspect of the director and his efforts to achieve the message he seeks to convey to the recipient through aesthetic values and artistic.
