Abstract

Research Summary

Education is a comprehensive and integrated process, the success of which depends on the type and nature of the educational situation's elements related to the teacher, the educational content, and the methods by which it is organized and achieved. Hence, attention was given to everything that enhances the coherence and harmony of these elements and ensures that learners' learning is achieved in a manner that can be observed, measured, and its results predicted. From this standpoint, this research aims to identify a proposal to construct an educational program based on the Van Hiele model and to demonstrate the achievement and development of visual perception in the subject of art history among students of fine arts institutes in Iraq. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher adopted the experimental approach, targeting the research community, which consisted of first-year students at the Fine Arts Institutes in Baghdad and the Fine Arts Institute in Karbala. A sample of (60) students from the Fine Arts Institute in Baghdad was drawn from this community and distributed randomly and equally between two groups: an experimental and a control group, with each group consisting of (30) male and female students. The researcher used two measurement tools, the achievement test and the visual perception test, with the program being adopted.

 1 = ere are statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the average scores of the experimental group students and the average scores of the control group students on the post-achievement test, in favor of the experimental group.

.  2 _ There are statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the average scores of the experimental group students on the pre-post visual perception test, in favor of the post-test.

. Based on the research results, the researcher reached several conclusions, as follo 3 _

.  1 _ The existence of an educational program designed according to the Van Hiele model in students' achievement and the development of their visual perception by stimulating students' abilities to comprehend ideas, exchange opinions, knowledge, understanding, and consolidate information in their minds.

. 2 -There is a relationship between the Van Hiele model and visual perception, as both are consistent in their steps with detailed reading of visual forms, achieving meaning-

Saved Based on the researcher's conclusions, the following are recommended:

.  1   _ Adopt the current educational program for teaching art history subjects to first-year students at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad.

.  2     _ Develop learners' visual perception in areas of life that require familiarity with visual representation and visual reading.

In light of the researcher's recommendations, the most prominent of which are :

.  1 _ Conduct a study to determine the impact of a proposed interactive learning environment based on the Van Hiele model on the achievement and critical thinking of middle school students in the art department in art history.

.  2 _    Conduct a study to determine the effectiveness of the Van Hiele model in acquiring artistic concepts and visual thinking among students in the Department of Art Education.
