Abstract
The current research studies chaos in postmodernist paintings, describing chaos as one of the characteristics of postmodern arts related to issues of artistic creativity in contemporary societies, as if the characteristic of chaos possesses other methods of artistic expression if it is not the visual discourse that postmodern works attempt to represent. This research contains four chapters: The first includes the methodological framework represented by the research problem, its objectives, importance, temporal and spatial boundaries, and determining the technical and procedural definitions. The research problem was based on the following questions: Does chaos theory constitute a striking phenomenon in postmodern arts? What are its representations at the levels of form, content, meaning, style, and technique? The second chapter includes three sections: The first: The scientific development of chaos theory and its elements. The second section: The conceptual use of chaos theory. The third section: Features of chaos in the visual experiences of postmodern artists. The third chapter contained the research procedures that included (the research community, the sample and the research tool, and the analysis of the research sample of (5) artworks. As for the fourth chapter, it included the research results and conclusions.
