The environment is considered a vital source of inspiration in contemporary art, offering rich symbols and expressive dimensions adaptable to visual aesthetics. Accordingly, this study focuses on exploring environmental aesthetics as manifested in the works of Iraqi artist Hashim Hannoon by tracing his stylistic integration of figuration and abstraction. The significance of this research lies in analyzing how Hannoun employs environmental elements to construct a visual language that merges emotional and realistic sensibilities, contributing to the enrichment of art education and visual taste among students. The study aims to reveal the expressive mechanisms through which the artist represents environmental themes and to analyze the aesthetic and symbolic dimensions of his selected paintings. A descriptive-analytical method was applied to four representative artworks, analyzing them visually and formally. The findings indicate that Hannoun skillfully transforms environmental features into vibrant symbolic forms, harmonizing human presence with place in cohesive visual compositions, while utilizing color as a tool of emotional communication. The study also confirms his ability to create a contemporary visual discourse that fuses childlike simplification with symbolic abstraction, offering viewers a rich aesthetic experience. Ultimately, the research concludes that Hannoun’s work represents a unique artistic perspective rooted in memory and emotion rather than photographic realism, opening new possibilities for expressive representation in contemporary Iraqi art.
