The use of Arabic calligraphy in Arab-Islamic Arts

The research tagged to (the use of Arabic calligraphy in Arab-Islamic Arts) is concerned with investigating the characters in contemporary Arab painting, and revealing their aesthetic dimensions. The research came up with four chapters: the first chapter (the methodological framework of the research) contained the research problem, which was represented by what are the aesthetic foundations of the Arabic craft in contemporary Arab painting, then the importance of the research and the need for it, the research goal of revealing the aesthetic foundations of the Arabic craft in contemporary Arab painting, the limits of the research and the definition of its terms. The second chapter (theoretical framework) included two papers: the first dealt with the historical origins and types of Arabic calligraphy. The third chapter (research procedures) contained the research community and its sample of (3) works of art, and the analysis of the research sample. The fourth chapter contained the results and conclusions. One of the most important findings of the research: Arabic calligraphy was employed in various Islamic Arts to document dates and names and carry aesthetic messages expressing the spirituality of Islamic Arts, which combines order and mastery in geometric formulations and tenderness and flow in plant decorations.
The function of Arabic calligraphy is a suggestive function related to the Islamic faith, which moves away from imitation and realistic analogy and seeks spiritual beauty in abstract forms that elevate the recipient's intellect and taste to faith in Allah Almighty, the creator of universes and the creator of absolute sublime beauty.
