The Myth and it's manifestations in the works of the artist Mahood Ahmad
Abstract
Research Summary
By tracing the concept of myth, we find it manifested in different propositions using different meanings and symbols that defined its preaching, social and historical themes, leading to subjectivity in this era, through the artist’s inspiration for realistic vocabulary and presenting it in a way that affects the recipient based on intellectual backgrounds that lead to an effect close to the influence of the legend in its classical concept. This artist, as the research included three chapters. The first concerned: studying the methodological framework of the research, which was represented in following the academic contexts of the origins of scientific research by mentioning the research problem, the importance of the research, the research objectives, the limits of the research, and defining the terminology .. where the problem is summarized by asking the following questions:
- Is there one concept of the myth?
- The mechanism of employing the myth in the works of the artist, Mahood Ahmed?
- What are the most important myths addressed by the artist?
The research aims to conduct an analysis of samples of the artist's works in order to reach the space of his myth and the mechanism of its presentation. As for the second chapter, which represents the theoretical framework, it is concerned with three sections, the first is concerned with the concept of myth, while the second section is concerned with the relationship of myth with the art of painting. While the third chapter was represented by the results of the research and the recommendations proposed by the researcher, which were extracted after analyzing the samples, it is possible to refer to what was summarized as follows:
1) The artist, Mahoud Ahmed, adopted the theme of the legend in its various forms (preachy, historical, popular - ancient and modern) and employed it in a large proportion of his works.
2) The theme of the myth is of great importance in the presence in the drawing, from the ages of the cave man to the modern man.
3) There is a relationship between myth and the art of drawing, as each of them depends on its influence on the development of the other through the reflected presence of both subjects in each other.
