The Relationship of Art Appreciation to the Big Five Personality Traits on Female Students of the College of Education in Al-Dilam

Abstract

The Abstract:

The present study aimed to identify the correlation between the Art Appreciation and the “big five personality traits” in the students (female) of the College of Education Al-Dilam at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj and to specify the differences in the light of the variables of specialization, study level and the area of residence.

The descriptive correlative approach was used to search for the relationship between the variables of the study. The study tools like the scale of Art Appreciation prepared by the researcher and the scale of the Big Five Personality Traits prepared by (Salat et al., 2018) were applied on a sample comprised of 205 female students from the College of Education – Al-Dilam in the Academic Year 1443 AH / 2021 AD. The students were randomly selected.

After processing the data statistically, the study concluded that there is a statistically significant inverse correlation between the Art Appreciation and the “big five personality traits” as well as there are differences in personality traits among female students of the College of Education in Al-Dilam.

The results revealed that there is a high level of Art Appreciation among female students of the College of Education in Al-Dilam and that there were no statistically significant differences due to the variables of the study.  Also, it is possible to predict the degree of Art Appreciation according to the degrees of personality traits. In light of the results, the researcher made a number of recommendations and the most important of which is to conduct such studies that pay attention to identify the level of Art Appreciation and its relationship to the personality for the students and in different educational stages.
