Abstract

Abstract

The present research deals with the semantic transformation of fixed techniques in the academic theaterical performance. It is the change in the meaning that fixed techniques: fixed scenery, accessory and lighting, are exposed to. It focuses on these techniques in order to know the multiple significant meanings that occur to these techniques during the theatrical performance.

The current research includes four chapters: ( Chapter One: The Methodological Framework) which included research problem presented through the following question: “Have the fixed techniques in the academic theatrical performance witnessed a semantic transformation?”. The chapter also included the importance of the research by highlighting the concept of (semantic) as an effective element in learning the meanings of fixed techniques. Besides, it contains the aim of the research, which was confined to the theaterical performances presented in College of Fine Arts/ University of Babylon during the academic years (2013-2019). This chapter is concluded by defining the terms.

The second chapter (Theoretical Framework) is in three sections:

The first topic: The concept of (semantic) theatrically.

The second topic: Fixed Techniques in theatrical performance.

The third topic: The elements and the foundations.

The chapter concluded indicators resulting from the theoretical framework.

As for the third chapter, it deals with the research procedures represented by the research community and its samples, which are chosen specifically based on indicators that resulted from the Theoretical Framework as a tool for analysis within a descriptive (analytical) method. And watching the following shows, analyzing these three selected ones, which are :( Ni Iraqi- Assuming what really happened- Heroism).

While the fourth chapter contains the results that the researcher concluded in her research, the most prominent of which were:

  1. The play Ni Iraqi, which a sample, carried the use of platform in a physically fixed and semantically transformed manner. While the sewage pipes, they were mobile and not fixed.
  2. The costumes in Ifteradh play witnessed constancy without a semantic transformation.

As for the conclusion, we summarize it as follows:

  1. The following techniques have been significantly used at the level of decoration and fashion without letting the other techniques having an active role in this field.
  2. The semantic transformations came clearly and effectively at the level of static decoration division only.

The chapter ends with a set of recommendations and proposals, proven sources, references and the summary of the research in English.
