The expressive significance of meaning in modern European painting

Abstract:

Expression in plastic arts in general and painting in particular is related to aesthetic and artistic concepts through the significance of expression, whether about form or meaning beyond that form, and that the link between form, meaning and the significance of expression was throughout a long history of art in general. The research included four chapters. The first chapter contained the research problem that was determined by the following question Are there expressive connotations of the meaning witnessed by modern painting? The importance of the research included the following: - This research is an attempt to trace the implications of expression in modern painting in its different schools and currents through academic scientific research in this field. An attempt to investigate the aesthetic and expressive semantic systems of meaning from an artistic and critical perspective. As for the aim of the research, the current research aims at the following: - Know the expressive connotations of meaning in modern painting. And the temporal and spatial boundaries: 1900-1945 AD, Europe. As for the fourth chapter, it included the results of the research, including: 1- The expressive significance of the meaning was related to the construction of the forms executed on the surface of the painting according to the semantic content to express the content and form. 2- The expressive significance was clarified through the aesthetic act of the artwork that reflected reality in an expressive way at the level of form and reflected the meaning at the level of content. Among the conclusions: 1- Modernity drawings were generally characterized by the expressive aspect of meanings through forms, in addition to the mental interference of the recipient in the perception and interpretation of meaning. 2- The semantic and expressive aspect was directly reflected in the support of form and content through the artist's performance despite the different artistic trends among them.
