Aesthetic approaches to formal and stylistic metaphor in contemporary Iraqi painting

Abstract

Research Summary:

The first chapter contains the research problem, which raises the following question: Are there aesthetic approaches to formal and stylistic metaphor in contemporary Iraqi painting? The research aims to identify the aesthetic approaches to formal and stylistic metaphor in Iraqi painting. The second chapter contains the theoretical framework, which consists of the concept of metaphor philosophically and the topic The second is the movement of contemporary painting in Iraq. As for the third chapter, it contained research procedures from the research community and its sample, and the research method, as the researcher relied on the descriptive analytical approach. As for the fourth chapter, it contained the research results, conclusions, recommendations, suggestions, and conclusions

1- The formal and stylistic metaphor of the contemporary Iraqi painter is related to several references, namely Mesopotamian arts, Islamic art, folk art, modern and postmodern European art.

2- Both formal and stylistic metaphors constitute a relative presence in the total artistic experiences of the artists of the contemporary Iraqi painting movement.

 3- The establishment of pioneering artistic groups in Iraq, during the fifties of the twentieth century, had a clear impact in consolidating the artistic identity of the Iraqi formation, according to a stylistic vision with multiple artistic features.

4- The cognitive and intellectual systems of the modern European painting currents contributed to the crystallization of stylistic visions for Iraqi artists, during the stages of missions and fellowships for those European countries.

 5- The metaphor did not constitute a pressure factor that prevents the artist’s creativity and thus the movement of the contemporary Iraqi painting movement towards stagnation and backwardness. Rather, it formed a basis for his launch towards continuous modernization and renewal.

 6-The factors of western technical excellence had an impact on the shift of the contemporary Iraqi artist to the modern artistic trends.
