The research consists of four chapters: The first chapter dealt with the research problem with an introduction to the intellectual, formal and performance transformations in Iraqi art and the extent to which the Iraqi artist was influenced by the transformations of contemporary global art represented by the arts of modernity and post-modernism. Postmodernism Then shedding light on the artistic career of the artist Sirwan and studying his drawings, then monitoring and studying the formal transformations evident in his drawings, as well as studying the intellectual foundations or references and the environment that led to the manifestation of this type of formal transformation in his artistic achievements over successive periods of time. Accordingly, the research problem was crystallized with the following question: What are the formal transformations? In the drawings of the artist Sirwan Baran? Does the environment play a role in these transformations? The goal of the research was to identify the formal transformations in the drawings of the artist (Sirwan Baran), and the importance of the current research was evident in contributing to adding an intellectual and applied reference within the research framework, and the lack of research that dealt with his works, as it allows artists and art connoisseurs to view and benefit from them and their importance in Iraqi painting. Contemporary       This was represented by the objective limits of the research, while the spatial and temporal limits of it were determined in the State of Iraq for the time period between the years (1990-2010), in addition to defining the terms mentioned in the title of the research to come up with procedural definitions. The second chapter included: three topics. The first section: specialized in shedding light on transformation and its concept philosophically, intellectually and artistically The second section: included the concept and meaning of form in modern painting and shed light on the opinion of thinkers, philosophers, critics and artists in this field. The third section included (the artist Sirwan Baran - (experience and style)) i.e. a close study on the artistic process and its intellectual and formal transformations and the environmental factors that emerged from it. During which these variables appear on the visual surface. The third chapter: included the research procedures and methodology, and (4) models were intentionally selected from the overall research community. The fourth chapter: included the results and conclusions reached from this research, and the most important results are:1 -Freedom and his artistic experience allowed for artistic transformations from realistic and impressionistic to expressive, symbolic, and then abstract.2- Expressionism is characterized by the priority of form over content, and it intends to distort the human and animal form in most of its the most important conclusions:1-Baran sought to build aesthetic systems that fit his personal vision.2- Baran tended to establish new expressive axes that differed from his conventional artistic approach.
