Abstract

This research focuses on studying textual cohesion in the Iraqi play (Ansalat) as a case study and is divided into four chapters. The first chapter provides the methodological framework, presenting the research problem with the question: (What is textual cohesion in the contemporary Iraqi play 'Ansalat'?) The importance of the research lies in analyzing the composition of Iraqi theatrical texts and showcasing their prominent works along with their social, educational, and political implications. The study aims to define textual cohesion in the contemporary Iraqi play (Ansalat,) specifying the temporal scope as 2021 and the spatial scope as Iraq, as well as defining the relevant terminologies and procedures.

The second chapter includes two sections: the first examines the concept of textual cohesion, while the second explores textual cohesion in global and Arab theater, concluding with key indicators from the theoretical framework. The third chapter details the research procedures, methodology, and defines the research sample as the play "Ansalat." The fourth chapter presents the research findings, which include:

The theatrical texts of the research sample are cohesive and harmonious, with their parts connected continuously and sequentially through cohesion tools.

The authors used both anaphoric and cataphoric references as means of formal cohesion and theatrical construction, with anaphoric references demonstrating greater cohesion in these texts.

The chapter also includes conclusions, recommendations, and a list of sources and references.
