News coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict on Al Jazeera satellite channel An analytical study of the Al-Hassad program

The Sudanese armed conflict is considered one of the important events that our Arab world is witnessing. This conflict began in limited areas in Sudan and extended to include most of its territory, between the government army forces and the Rapid Support Forces. This conflict has caused great loss of life among civilians and the collapse of services and infrastructure.

Therefore, it has become one of the important events that Arab and international satellite television channels, including Al Jazeera Satellite Channel, seek to cover. The current research aims to shed light on Al Jazeera Satellite Channel’s news coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict in the daily program Al-Hassad, The research seeks to answer a main question: What is the nature of news coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict in the Al-Hassad program presented on Al-Jazeera satellite channel?                                                            The research also aims to identify the types of news coverage related to the Sudanese armed conflict, diagnose the most prominent image treatments employed in covering the Sudanese armed conflict, and monitor the most prominent topics covered in news coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict.                                                                               The current research is considered descriptive research, in which the researcher used the survey method, relying on the content analysis form as a tool for collecting information and data, as the program episodes were analyzed, and the research samples were subjected to monitoring and analysis from the period (13/4 to 13/5/2023).                                                     The research reached results including: The interpretive coverage category ranked first among the types of news coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict, and the emergence of five main topics covered in the news coverage of the Sudanese armed conflict, where humanitarian topics ranked first, and the written titles category ranked first among all subcategories. For the image treatments used by Al Jazeera satellite channel in its news coverage.
