Technical diversity in contemporary Iraqi sculpture
Abstract
Abstract:
The current research addresses "Technical Diversity in Contemporary Iraqi Sculpture" and consists of four chapters. The first chapter includes the methodological framework, starting with the research problem defined by answering the following questions: (Is there technical diversity in contemporary Iraqi sculpture, and what are the methods and materials that have achieved this diversity?) The significance of the research lies in shedding light on the vast and accumulated body of contemporary Iraqi sculptural works and contributing to its technical and stylistic documentation. The research objective is to identify the technical diversity in contemporary Iraqi sculpture. The research boundaries are limited to studying the sculptural works exhibited at the Iraqi Artists' Hall in 2019, along with defining some terms mentioned in the research.
The second chapter encompasses the theoretical framework and previous studies. The theoretical framework includes three sections: the first section discusses the concept of technique in general; the second section addresses technique in sculpture and its relationship with materials; and the third section explores technical trends in contemporary Iraqi sculpture. This is followed by indicators derived from the theoretical framework and then previous studies. Terms used in the research title, such as "diversity" and "technique," are also defined.
The third chapter outlines the research procedures based on a descriptive methodology for sample analysis. The research community was selected to align with its objectives, choosing six purposive samples out of sixty-five exhibited works, considering material diversity due to its direct relation to display techniques.
The fourth chapter presents findings and conclusions, leading to recommendations and suggestions. The research concludes with a list of references
