Multimedia and it's Representations in the Iraqi Theater Show (The Sindbad Play) as a Model

Abstract

Abstract:

     The digital technologies represented by the elements of multimedia have brought about a new shift in the concept of theater, as it provided a new visionary culture containing scientific ideas and innovations, which opened the door to filming in the scenography of the show accompanying the work of the director / designer and the interpretation of his artistic vision in directing with modern laws and methods, whether inherited or innovative, so the director/designer has a great task in finding modern ways to use multimedia technology. He has the ability to manipulate the elements of multimedia in a way that suits his intellectual and scientific visions so that the theatrical performance acquires a new value based on his accumulated scientific experience. The theatrical performance is based on technical foundations, including hard and soft ones, which are translated by the director professionally in order to achieve the aesthetic and creative vision, which gives the recipient a space of integration and tension in the presented presentation, whether in the theater or cinema, and accordingly the current research dealt with four chapters, the first chapter included the research problem focused on the following question:

Identify the elements of multimedia and their representations in the Iraqi theatrical performance?

While the importance of the current research was manifested in the study of one of the topics that reveal the technical treatments provided by multimedia in the theatrical performance. As for the research limits, the temporal limit was determined to the year 2018, and the spatial limit in Iraq came in the National Theatre, while the objective limit is a study of multimedia and its treatment the technique in theatrical performance and the introduction in the theater of the box. As for the second chapter, it included two topics. The first topic came in the study of the concept of multimedia, beginning with its roots in the theater throughout history, and the changes and developments it brought about that affected the theater. The second topic was about studying the concept of multimedia and its scenographic developments among contemporary directors. Then the chapter concluded with the indicators that resulted from the theoretical framework. As for the third chapter, it included the procedures of the research, where the researcher glorified the presentation of the play (The Sindbad Journey) directed by (Ahmed Muhammad Abdul-Amir), as an analytical sample for the research, adopting the descriptive approach in analyzing his sample. In the fourth chapter, the researcher came out with a set of results and conclusions, as well as sources and references. In the fourth chapter, the research ended with the results of the sample analysis, the most prominent of which were:  

1- Multimedia performs its dual function in the vision, embodying the form and moving it with its elements to reach what is aesthetic.

2-The multimedia-based director is the producer of a space theatrical image that fills the screen space.

3-The director benefited from his intellectual references stemming from the depth of his intellectual and aesthetic work to employ the elements of multimedia in order to present a new technology at the level of audiovisual discourse.

The chapter also included a number of conclusions, the most prominent of which were:

• The importance of multimedia lies in the single theatrical performance, as it is a collection of the elements of the written text with the audio, and the static and moving images in one basket to produce a semantic image.
• The multimedia in the theatrical performance came as a symphonic vision to furnish the theatrical performance space for a group of elements of the visual installation.
• The importance of multimedia in theatrical performance lies in its ability to create a show capable of evoking the visual and sensory perceptions of the recipient.

The researcher recommended some recommendations and suggestions in order to serve the scientific research, followed by a list of sources and references.
