The philosophy of determinism and indeterminism in Ammar Nima Jaber's theatr ical texts

Abstract

     The concept of determinism and its opposite indeterminism is represented in form and content by many theatrical texts the themes of which are the problems of the real life reflected by contemporary intellectual currents and trends which have been formed in the womb of the avant-garde movements such as the absurd drama, futurism and Dadaism. The research consists of four chapters; the first includes the procedural framework and the problem which is centralized by the following enquiry: What are the qualities of  determinism and indeterminism in the theatrical performances of Ammar Ni'ma Jabir. The importance of the research is revealed through the focus on the concept of determinism and indeterminism in the international and Iraqi theatrical text. The research aims at identifying determinism and indeterminism in the theatrical texts of Ammar Ni'ma Jabir. The research is limited to one of his theatrical works called "Attention" 2019 in Iraq. The chapter ends in terminologies and the procedural definition. The second chapter "the theoretical framework" involves two sections; the first is concerned with an ideological study of determinism and indeterminism whereas the second goes through the study of absurdity and what is after drama in the theatrical text. The chapter ends in the indicators of the theoretical framework. The third chapter "The procedures" revolves around the society of the research and the sample (Shebzi) which has intentionally been chosen by the researcher to be compatible with his research, problem and aim. The researcher has chosen the descriptive method and content analysis relying on the tool of the research which has been referred to in the theoretical framework by the indicators and sample analysis. The fourth chapter implies the results the most important of which are:

1. The theatrical text has a fragmented theatrical structure with dreaming characters melting in accepting reactions.
2. Rejecting the bourgeoisie spirit and Nazi thoughts and their ideological manifestations in form and content. The chapter also includes the conclusions and the bibliography.
