Abstract

Research Summary:

The current research entitled (Diversity of Visual Formulations in Contemporary Iraqi Drawing) is divided into four chapters. The first chapter was devoted to the methodological framework that addressed the research problem, which ended with the question (What are the drivers of diversity in visual formulations in contemporary Iraqi drawing), then the importance of the research and the need for it, and the aim of the research in (identifying the diversity of visual formulations in contemporary Iraqi drawing and the limits of the research to end with defining the most important terms included in it.

The second chapter dealt with the theoretical framework that was formed from two topics, the first was concerned with studying the concept and meaning of diversity, and the second was concerned with studying technical diversity as a pressure for the act of visual diversity. The chapter ends with the most important indicators that the researchers reached from the theoretical framework. As for the chapter  The third was devoted to the research procedures, where the research community was determined by (20) artworks and the research sample of (3) models was chosen, then the research tool and methodology and the analysis of the sample models.

The fourth chapter dealt with the results and conclusions reached by the researchers, and the most important results were:

1-The Iraqi environment constitutes an external pressure that affects the artist intentionally or unintentionally in shaping his visual fields, which makes the artist's connection to the environment an important tributary of the tributaries of enriching the feature of diversity at the level of visual formulations.

2-The process of blending the fixed objective vision with the changing subjective vision specific to each artist contributes fundamentally to creating a diversity of visual formulations in the artistic achievements participating in the exhibitions of the Iraqi Fine Artists Association.  Among the most important conclusions reached by the researchers are: 1- The technique is an external pressure that intentionally affects through the artist’s control over it and the activation of conscious mental monitoring during the period of work (accomplishment), or it exerts pressure unintentionally by making room for the artist to achieve manifestations by chance, the unconscious, and the visual event. Rather, the artist may benefit from some performance errors that reveal some unintended forms, but they serve the interests of the aesthetic field of visual formulations.

2- Returning to the past as an external pressure that enriches the act of diversity with visual formulations, whether of a nostalgic nature, popular heritage, or a return to the depth of ancient civilization. The current study ended with a list of sources and references and a summary of the research in English.
